Trip to Bhimeshwari!!!

Last saturday our practice team for a small outing to a near by place called Bhimeshwari. {Near, bole toh, 2hrs run from Blore}

It was a nice place, but yes it lacked lot of stuff. First and foremost, Network!!!!  If you are planning to make a trip to Bhimeshwari, you can leave your cell at your place. No nice hotels :(

Muthathi is another place, very close by which has a river flowing so obivous you can try Coracle, River Rafting and ofcourse having bath :)

We were “planning” to do lot of stuff, BUT didnt do much. We did Jungle Trekking {Dont ask me what it means, we coined it}. If you have seen Bollywood movie, Kaal, imagine this jungle as same as the one shown in movie :D

Soon would post some pics of the trip

In short, had a nice change after a long time

Now, back to work!!

Back from Home…Back to Work!!!

Okay, I am back from home, had good time :) Will write about the trip soon

Now, getting back to work.

Btw, check out this video song, its from Beatles, Imagine. Its awesome. Beautiful lyrics and touching music. Njoy Maadi :D

Lyrics of the song:

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Nice Neighbors, Awesome Deal!!!

Yesterday I saw our neighbour from “2B” was shifting. I didnt meet him. I could make out from the truck-loaded with luggage.

I asked the watchman, if anyone was moving In? He said, nahi saahab. 2B is leaving. Oh okay. I saw a big box full of books and novels.

I asked him wheather it was “waste” for someone? He nooded. And complanied.

Saahab, no one buys the books, not even for weight. I was very happy to listen :)

I said, lets make deal, I pay u 100 bucks and I take the books? He was dumbstuck!!!

100rs? I said yes. He agreed.

So now I have stacked up my library with 10 new novels, 5 tech books. All for just 100 bucks.

Some of the novels included, Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, How Opal Got Kissed, Got wild and Got life -by Kavya Vishwanathan, Company of a woman -Khushwant Singh, Autobiography of Gandhi etc etc.

BCB4: Summary of my expr!!!!

Okay, so as I promised in my previous post, I am updating my expr about Barcamp Bangalore Collectives Edition.

On saturday morning, I started bit late, so I reached the venue, IIM-Bangalore around 10:30am. I entered into Auditorium to learn that the intro section is over :)

Met Jayanth, Himanshu, Ashwin and other folks from Bloggers community.

Right after that in Bloggers collective I gave a small talk on “How to create a Audio/Video Podcast”. Rest for another 2 hrs I was in Bloggers Collective till lunch.

Now, the real fun begins!!!!

After lunch, I was feeling damn sleepy. So thought Auditorium would be a ideal place to sleep for a hr or so. When I went there, I find “Shourya Sarcar & Jayanth” for Unband Collective.

Shourya took a session about Basics of guitar for begineers which I found very useful. Next few hrs went so fast that I didnt realize that Day-1 of BCB4 was almost over!!!!

Then, was real unconference style. Shourya, Jayanth, Peter started jamming on some rock songs. Loved it.

Day-2 Sunday, usually its a thumb rule for unconferences that only “serious” crowd shows up. so it usually starts a bit late.

I reached by 10:30am. Then after intro session, I headed towards “BangAJAX” collective which I was leading. We were some 30-35 guys in a classroom. though we had only 3 talks but I can say we discussed on various topics some of which included intro to web 2.0/ajax, web IDE aptana, Chunk coding, Comet, Push-technology, SEO on ajax apps, security etc etc. In all it was short and sweet, more of open discussion rather than PPT stuff.

We had only three 3 talks.

1. Introduction to Web 2.0 & Ajax — I took it

2. SEO for AJAX powered sites — Allagapan(a Y!), claims to be newbie, but was not :)

3. Yahoo UI Library & Yahoo Maps — Shivku, a Y!, works on Yahoo Maps India.

Thanks a ton to everyone who participated in this collective.

Okay, after this session, I went straight for lunch :)

Oooops I forgot to tell you that Shourya dada has shown interest in teaching us guitar on first day, so I carried my guitar too.

Dada started teaching us, soon we joined Jay’s session how to make music without instruments. This guy is one crazy fellow for Rock music :)

After this session, the real learning part of BCB started. Shourya dada taught some basics of chords, 1-3-5 rule, and other simple YET must needed ones. I must tell you, he has lot of patience. Imgaine listening to 3 of us me, pradeep {mapunity} & yuvraj playing some really noisy stuff and he with full zest was encouraging us!!!!

Well, we did the practice till evening, before the wrapping up of BCB4. Next BCB is in November.

I did write about my learning during BCB, but I thought why not make a simple tutorial of what Shourya dada taught. So expect it soon. I am writing a complete tutorial for begineers who want to learn playing Guitar.

Here some pics I collected while we were learning.

Shameful Flight, a must read!!!!

Shameful FLight

Tomorrow morning when you can find lot of crowd outside malls to buy a book, yes you guessed it right. Harry Poter series.

I will also start my search for a book, its not HP series. Its a book from “Stanley Wolpert” named “Shameful Flight”.

This book is about the last years of british empire in India. How India got divided, who were responsible, what game plan british played. Its a sad chapter to read, but I would say a must.

The book is titled properly for their “Shameful” acts. Its an Oxford University Press release.

The book also features life of Nehru, Mountbatten, Winston Churchhill, Lady mountbatten etc. It throws some light on how because of our leaders we suffered.

India will turn 60 next month, and what are we upto? The answers to these questions are not simple as they appear. Its sad to see the numbers which say what we have  achieved in last 60 years.

One more thing I swore last night, I will surely enter into Politics at any cost, waiting for the right time.

Busy Days, No Learning!!!!

Days have been quite busy from past 2 weeks, which keeps me away from blogging. When I say days are busy. I mean it.

But the saddest part is that, though Im busy, there has been little new stuff I have added to my right-n-left brain!!!!

I believe everyone should learn some or the other thing daily, which is not only useful but also adds satisfaction.

Off for now, Im seriously working on something. So hope to post you soon about the updates and my learnings.

Getting Real : Book from 37signals

37signls needs no introduction.

Yes, the same guys from Basecamp, Campfire, Highrise, backpack, ta-da list!!!! Never heard of these? Okay, Heard of Ruby On Rails framework? Yes, the same guys.

I must tell you, they are awesome.

“Undo your competition”. They focus a lot on design, technology and only essential features and dropping everything else.

If one wants to develop and deploy a successful web application, this book “Getting Real” is a must to read and follow.

Every aspect of project is covered, technology, hiring, users, customers.

Nothing great or something, but I would say these are essentails which we all must have come across but we fail to implement them.

Go ahead. Did I tell u that its free? Read on….

Book Review : AJAX In Action

 Ajax

I have recently finished reading this book “Ajax In Action” By Dave Crane, Eric Pascarello and Darren James.

I thought I would share some key points from the book with everyone.

I recommend this book to everyone, who wants to learn Ajax or for those who have already fallen in love with it :)

The book talks about the basics as introduction and example code are given to explain various ajax libraries covered, which includes Prototype, Rico, Dojo, Sajax etc.

It is also written keeping in mind only about the client-side programs and not heavily on server-side, which helps individuals to use it with any of these PHP/Asp/JSP etc.

This 680 pages book is what you need to master the concepts and start using ajax in your web apps.

Cumon, u still waiting for more reviews??? Go and buy here

Its a weekend, I have some plans too.

Happy Weekend!!!!

Sena heated up over SNS(orkut)!!!

Before you read this article, I would appreciate if you can read my previous post Here.

I was going through a Daily Newspaper, The Times of India, 12th june edition, in the front-page an article quoting ” Sena Cubs are part of target website”, Which was written in the context of Shiv-sena’s attacking some cyber cafes to protest against Social Networking site, Orkut.com.

Shiva Sena’s attacks were due to some posts/articles on orkut quoting wrong about Shiva Sena supremo, Bal Saheb Thackery and his party.

What’s the point in attacking cyber cafes? Orkut is run by those people.

One more interesting fact is that, the “cubs” of shiv sena have their profiles and more than hundred friends on orkut.

Why dont they break computers at their home, rather than cyber cafes?

I was wondering, if this is going to be the mentality, soon sites like Desimartini, yaari.com etc will have treat and also causing treat to wanna-bes.

Check out the article in the newspaper here.
