India Still an IT giant? Lifting Website data from Singapore.
Delhi Police has “lifted” website structure, data, content and even Images
from Singapore’s police website.
This news was first broken by NDTV on Saturday.
It is shame to see things like this happen, specially when the world considers India as a IT destination?
If they were desperate to get some simple HTML pages done with text and images, least they could have dropped me mail. Than doing this HOLY shit.
I guess it wouldnt be completely wrong to say that Delhi Police has done what Software Engineers in India do it on a daily basis.
Some of the “HOT” quotes from Delhi Police website.
”With the increasing number of bombing incidents around the world, no country including Singapore can take safety for granted.”
And just in case there’s a biological attack and you get anthrax, there’s no need to panic.
The website says: In Singapore, the SCDF, Police, Ministry of Health and Singapore Post have taken precautionary measures to deal with this threat.

A Small Step : PayBack-August 07
Wishing everyone belated Happy Independence Day!!! Proud to be an Indian
You must have never heard that a event happens first and then it gets a name <stuck>
Okay, so thats what we did yesterday, on the occasion of 60 years of freedom, we took a small step.
“In software industry, we are used to hear the word reusable stuff. Why not in real life?”
And, thats exactly what we did.
Goal: Collect all the old-reusable, not-so-bad condition clothes which are mostly redundant and distribute them among local people like coblers, fruit-sellers etc etc.
Why the name PayBack?
Its time for all of us to PayBack to Nation, be it in small steps.
Thanks a lot to Ram, Snigdha, Vinayak, Surpiy, Ayan, and Sudarshan for showing interest and willingness to make the difference.
It was great to see that young guns are interested in giving back to society in some or the other form.
We distributed the clothes in the CMH Road, Indiranagar area so if u happen to visit the place, and see a local guy wearing Arrow, Mango or Westside branded clothes, dont get shocked!!!! Instead Just say “PayBack Works”
Then the team went to blind school and distributed the ladies garments to the children there. I had to drop from there soon. So rest story may be Ram or Snigdha can narrate.
Local junta was following us for more stuff, guess last time I saw people following was only politicians

Technology Threats???

Comments (2) Have you even imagined that the benefits we are taking of Technology even the terrorist can take?
Imagine how dangerous it can be?
Cyber police says, it can trace the emails sent, scan them and then identify the anti-social elements.
Anti-Social #1[Place 1]: Writes the message in the email/blog and saves it without sending.
Anti-Social #2[Place 2]: Opens with same userID and Password, reads the same saved message and logs Off.
What can the police do in such a situation?
This sure may sound, simple but trust me it can prove very costly and deadly as well.
Any thoughts??? views??? suggestions???

Sena heated up over SNS(orkut)!!!
Filed under: Blogging, General, India 2.0, News, Personal, Social |
Comments (5) Before you read this article, I would appreciate if you can read my previous post Here.
I was going through a Daily Newspaper, The Times of India, 12th june edition, in the front-page an article quoting ” Sena Cubs are part of target website”, Which was written in the context of Shiv-sena’s attacking some cyber cafes to protest against Social Networking site, Orkut.com.
Shiva Sena’s attacks were due to some posts/articles on orkut quoting wrong about Shiva Sena supremo, Bal Saheb Thackery and his party.
What’s the point in attacking cyber cafes? Orkut is run by those people.
One more interesting fact is that, the “cubs” of shiv sena have their profiles and more than hundred friends on orkut.
Why dont they break computers at their home, rather than cyber cafes?
I was wondering, if this is going to be the mentality, soon sites like Desimartini, yaari.com etc will have treat and also causing treat to wanna-bes.
Check out the article in the newspaper here.

Bloggers, Come Let’s Fight Cyber Crime!!!!
Is Internet safe for girls???
A guy and a gal meets on cyberspace, they become friends, write testimonials, talk on phone, then they meet and finally the Girl Is Found Dead.
Its not the first time in India, that such kind of accident has happened, but the question that everyone would ask is when will it be the last one???
I read in last week’s Times of India Sunday Edition, that a guy from Hyd was caught as he took some personal information from a girl from mysore and started blackmailing her or else he will post the information across porn sites. Girls need to be more careful[1]
What can we do to restirct net crimes [2]??? Is Internet a crime zone medium?
Read one such story and please spread awarness among your peers to make Net a better place to live.
http://www.indianexpress.com/story/31150.html
Its shame to see such things as it hampers the wanna-be Web-Entrepreneurs.
Imagine you start a web service/product and things like these happen, and one-fine day Govt says close all these sites or even worst if parents restrict children to come to Internet.
huh? Any comments??

PS: 1] A personal advice to all the girls out there on Net, please dont share any personal information on web to strangers. Remove all the phone numbers, photos, videos, address etc from your profile. You can have a Net identity, fake name!!!!
2] If you happen to have a blog, write about it, dicuss such matters, spread the word of awarness. If you cant, atleast ping back this post.
Why do I blog?
Filed under: Blogging, Education, Entrepreneurs, General, Inspirational, Personal, Social, Techie |
Comments (3) Why do I blog?
Most of the blogs I surf, are mostly about How-To blog or “Earn through your Blog” or more or less same pitch!!!!
Blogs have become a prominent way of expressing self/marketing etc. We can see millions of blogs around us in the virtual universe called “Web”.
Himanshu: Blogging Breeds Entrepreneurship, has a good write up on the same lines, which says Blogging gives you a Entrepreneurial edge!!!
Now, coming back to my question, I blog because whatever I am trying/doing/re-searching etc I find it very easy to write down for later purpose or even better if someone is also looking/working on the same lines can find the tips/tutorials useful.
I mostly write about AJAX{my love} and some tutorials on CSS, MySQL & PHP.
A simple example, I would like to give you how this works for me and others.
Try to google, “script.aculo.us based slideshow”.
What you find as first link is my tutorial “Script.aculo.us based Slideshow”. I wrote this particular piece of code, coz I was frustated of not finding the same. Now, if someone else is also looking for the same, just feel free to use it. Why to re-invent the wheel?
And, lastly I write whatever I am trying to build, which is getting added to my application. In this way, I am keeping track of building my own product/features as well helping others.
My two cents in helping web community and making web more fun place to live & learn.
Now, your turn: Why do you blog? tell everyone through comments.

Why in India, Media Is So Negative Minded?
Do I sound wrong when I say this? I don’t know. Let me give you some instances and then I will ask the same question again.
All of us, okay most of us watch movies {typical bollywood style} what is common in all of them? A hero, a heroine, a vilan and wait, there is something more. Rain and sex!!!
I am writing naked truth here, when you can watch all that in a movie? Why media has to make an issue out of Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty’s kiss? They were there to spread the word of HIV among truck drivers. Media didnt talk about the truck drivers/the message that was given to them. No, people have never seen any kissing scene but films like Murder scores a blockbuster in India.
Another Instance, day before yesterday I was surfing channels and came across a “Special” show on Aaj Tak channel. It was titled “Lux Girl: Priyanka”. They showed it for next 1 hr{I was watching final of WC when it ended, again surfing came to Aaj Tak}.
Priyanka bathing with Lux. Big Deal, huh? 1 hr? Man, please tell them there are better things to be covered.
One more Instance, yesterday I was watching news and saw that in Jaipur some people from VHP and BJP{as claimed in News} has badly beaten up a Principal{a Christian} and so badly, man how can you people do that? In his house, in front of his old mother, a helpless wife and innocent kids?
No Surprise. News channel was covering it live. They were informed before hand and not police. Koool. People got the victim, Media got a story to live with.
Why dont people take time to show how Abhay-Anand and they “super 30″ is doing in Bihar? Why cant people show guts of a soldier? why cant people show young people being Entrepreneurs? Why not?
Why media only wants masala/spice?
I am writing this coz I am angry on the way things are being projected in the country and specially in a news channel.

PS{Please DO NOT watch Aaj Tak Channel, It’s all F**King crap}
