India Still an IT giant? Lifting Website data from Singapore.

Delhi Police has “lifted” website structure, data, content and even Images 😦 from Singapore’s police website.

This news was first broken by NDTV on Saturday.

It is shame to see things like this happen, specially when the world considers India as a IT destination?

If they were desperate to get some simple HTML pages done with text and images, least they could have dropped me mail. Than doing this HOLY shit.

I guess it wouldnt be completely wrong to say that Delhi Police has done what Software Engineers in India do it on a daily basis.

Some of the “HOT” quotes from Delhi Police website.

”With the increasing number of bombing incidents around the world, no country including Singapore can take safety for granted.”

And just in case there’s a biological attack and you get anthrax, there’s no need to panic.
The website says: In Singapore, the SCDF, Police, Ministry of Health and Singapore Post have taken precautionary measures to deal with this threat.

What do u think abt such things? And what we can do to solve such basic problems?

India is the land of IT engineers, but how many of them will be ready to help do websites for Government organization. ZERO…. I am sure if there were any they would have called Delhi Police…

I genuinely appreciate the initiate of Delhi Police to have the website, I support Delhi Police way to go. Regarding the website stuff and all, I am sure they are going to sort out. Give them some time. I am sure they are going to improve.

Regarding copying, I think people post something on website, with the understanding that someone is going to copy it. And I guess making websites is not core competency of Delhi police, neither it is meant to be some creative website, it is just for specific purpose and even if makes life easier for some people nothing else matters.

Regarding NDTV, I dont know why media takes so much fun in letting people down, letting institutions down. It is ok, we all copy, copy pictures, copy quotes, and so on. So it is fine. Delhi police is making something new, let us encourage and appreciate, and if we cant lets not ciritcize, that is my request.

If you are really keen to help all the NGOs and other people come up with their websites. Do let me know. We are looking for people who can do website for us and other loads of NGOs whom we are working with.

    Have a great day.

well I strongly feel, if this requirement of creating HTML PAGES was given in newspapers or aired in TV,definitely our young blood would have made the difference. If the things are transparent, It really helps a lot.Remember collective effort is required for designing web pages or creating HTML pages.I hope u all agree with me.
